Nicole at Home in Green Heels'Nicole at Home in Green Heels with Mandala' is a fresh new drawing from my Cosmic Persona Designs series of figure studies of the Boudoir Blossoms persuasion.
Here you see a partial view of Nicole...17+-ers may view the rest by clicking the following link...

And if you click this link you may view her completed portrait yet please don't be surprised to find that Sylvie has morphed into Astrid:
It's for the best.
jude 10.29.08 12:07 am edt Sylvie Slipmask says: RSVP!New art work here...taking some time off Political Astrology~mundane astrology~Astro-Politics, Politics, Cats, Limericks, writing and blogging to begin 2 new drawings this evening. My favorite pasttime.
And with a Gemini Midheaven multiple projects usually work for me barring unforseen sniffles and such. Tonight it's damp and cold and should drop into the 50s F so we're bundled a bit but busy.
~Jude Cowell Art~ space has been chosen for publishing an incomplete version of 'Sylvie Slipmask'
The final version of 'Sylvie Slipmask' will be published at
in a few days - I'll alert you with a Heads-Up in this space since the portrait must be completed before it's finished.
If you find yourself drifting over to Cosmic Persona Designs, you'll find raggedy old sketches, dawdling doodles, and renderings of many types - what I call ~Chiffonery Art~ or sometimes 'Boudoir Blossoms', 'Mandala Maidens' (quite archetypal these are), and plain old erotic art.
'Unscene World' is an early imprint for my celestial and cosmic images since 1995.
Besides, it's Confession Time: some folk tell me my figure studies are awfully tame. But it's Art (drawing) to me and the beauty of Art is: that what You create represents You and so on. Self-expression must be just that to be considered self-expression. Way the mop flops. Cookies often crumble for less.
So here's an icon-only of Sylvie (v1)...hope she's a little forward-looking toward Oct 31 for those who care about such things, although here's confession#2: celebrating dark eves isn't how I roll...therefore, Sylvie's portrait may be the best I can contribute to the Autumnal mask-inspired festivities. Be safe.

Sunday Night ArtAfter a mild amount of political and astrological blogging today at Stars Over Washington and Jude's Threshold (I've been taking it easy since SNL's Sarah Palin ~ Tina Fey-lin skits this weekend), it seems a fair idea to add a new art image here upon this new-ish blog...what image, I don't know, but I suppose I'll recognize it when I find it...whichever it is, it will have been perpetrated with my usual Prismacolor oil and Rexel Derwent Watercolour pencils on paper...
so I hope you like this drawing from my Dreamyfish Art collection:
Brown-spotted wrasse from
Western Australian waters
ensnared within his favorite dream
landscape...because fish dream, too!
jude cowell 10.19.08 7:50 pm edt Chiffonery Artist makes announcementOkay you guys...it's been a few days since I set up this new Art Blog and so far the only emaiis I've received are from "Dating Services" websites - or from people soliciting for them. Give me a break!
Now I know it's easy to tangle up an artist with their work thinking you 'know' the artist better than you actually do.
How many fans have imagined themselves in a relationship with an actor or actress who are nothing like any of the characters they've played on screen or stage? Who hasn't fantasized about a music star or two? But at some point we mature and see this tendency for the fantasizing that it is...projection. We project traits upon a creative person on a Neptunian screen of films, photography, videos, TV, computer screens, whatever - when really we are seeing traits we possess ourselves, if only we would consciously accept them.
If the viewer didn't have a trait, he/she wouldn't notice it!
So is your favorite singer a hero to you? Then you are the hero. Like their music? Fine. But don't think you know them for they're putting out a product in order to make sales and yes, perhaps to create a bit of hero-worship for themselves so you'll buy their next CD. The world works like that.
Guess I've always felt that the artwork I display online is not me, never has been me, and is meant for the viewing pleasure of art-
lovers everywhere - which is what's cool about displaying art images on the interweb (cred to TV's Craig Ferguson for 'interweb.')
And an occasional download would be nice to Support the Arts, y'know!
On Art and Astrology:
There are no secret symbols within my drawings except for the occasional Astrology symbols for Chiron, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto; plus, my drawings of the celestial sphere almost always contain the constellation Orion.
Why Orion? Well, the constellation is old as the hills and is associated with Egyptian myths and other archetypes from the collective unconscious, shared by us all.
But the deeper reason I choose to include Orion in my artwork is that The Hunter's belt is said to be the direction from which Christ will return...and 'All eyes shall see Him.' (If you're looking for a 'rapturist' you won't find one around here! "All eyes" means All Eyes.)
Astrology and Political Astrology I perpetrate online to share any info I find...only occasionally do I consult on charts with clients because I don't have much time to spend on them. Chart consultations are very time-consuming - a smidge like musicians' rehearsal time they don't get paid for, nor for the setting up, breaking down, and sound checks in between. Astrology as a profession 'doesn't pay' unless you can put in the extra hours and fund copious promotional campaigns to advertise yourself liberally.
So since I've drawn since the age of 2 1/2 and since I've always drawn the human figure - and because my art college courses were in Fashion Illustration, Layout, and Design - I think you can see influences in my drawings of Fashion and of my love for Degas' dancers and other such figure studies, mostly of the Impressionists.
And none of this has anything to do with "dating services" or with hooking up with anyone I don't know and will never know. Such assumptions! Can't Art just be Art without assumptions or 'sexy' sales pitches?
Yet anyone who likes the hook up type of website, have at it, and I promise not to complain. And if you like my artwork or something else on or about this Art Blog, do sign my Guestbook and leave your Link, if you like...but all I've got for ya is a link trade and/or
a web-friendship with a behind-the-scenes artist who is happy for her art to speak for her online. Just so ya know, Y'all!
Now, to show my good nature and because perhaps you've never read it before, here's an inspiring and ancient pyramid text for you to consider if you may:
I fly from you, oh men,
I am not for the earth.
I am for the sky.
I have soared to the sky as a heaven.
I have kissed the sky as a falcon.
I am the essence of a god,
the son of a god.
Behold the faithful and loving Osiris
has come as the stars of Orion, the Beautiful One.
I have come that I may glorify Orion.
My soul is a star of gold
and with him
I will traverse the sky forever.
(verse found in Brady's 'Book of Fixed Stars')

Star of Orion linked to my natal chart?
Rigel, keywords: 'to bring knowledge, to teach.' Edgar Degas' art and eyesightWonder why there's no 'ART' category on this drop down menu? Some people are visual artists - not everyone is a musician!
If everyone WERE a musician who'd have time to listen? Everybody would be busy rehearsing and performing.
Well this blog is having its second day and I wanted to mention to you that you'll find a link to a post that concerns the natal chart of artist Edgar Degas (with chart's image) along with natal details and info on his life, art, and poor eyesight...scroll down to see the link.
In IE it's at the bottom of this page but I don't know what browser you're using, when it was last updated, or if this page displays the same to you as it does to me.

Adieu until we meet again...jude Oct 13 2008 new blog appears out of nowhereToday it's slow going as I attempt to get the hang of this new space and its quirks. Blank spaces plague the set-up but maybe I'll get better at it later on...
Hope you'll find something here of interest - please sign my Guest Book (it's here somewhere!)...and do leave Your Link if you wish so I can drop by and see you sometime.
'Jude Cowell Art' contains a Slideshow of a dozen of my drawings from various online galleries such as: Dreamyfish Art, Secret Moon Art, and Cosmic Persona Designs. Some are Cosmic or Botanical, some are Chiffonery Art for the more mature viewer, but all are displayed for Art's Sake.
You'll also discover a few Astrology, Political Astrology, and plain Political links'n'bits, plus, Lim's Limericks, a collection of cat photos and political rhymeries is represented as well. So far my list of favorite blogs - Artistic, Political, Astrological, and Astro-Political - is short but sweet so you know that more links shall be added soon.
But if you, lone reader, are one of my previously linked friends on other blogs and you don't see your site or blog listed here, let me know and we'll see what we can do about that. And if you're new to my work and want to join in on Jude Cowell Art, also clue me in so we can share the Linky Love!
